There have been many ventures into raising money for Haiti (have you seen the we are the world remake? … no comment) the next event on the calendar takes a slightly glamorous turn as Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for relief charity and The White Ribbon Alliance join forces to raise money for healthcare for mothers and babies in Haiti. Since the earthquakes the sanitary conditions for new born children and women have become extremely alarming and many women are forced to give birth in dangerous surroundings.
Naomi Campbell had this to say about the events:
"I am honored to be working with Sarah Brown and the White Ribbon Alliance on this year’s Fashion for ReliefTM. I am deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Haiti. So many have been killed and severely affected by the earthquake - women and children in particular are most vulnerable in disasters. Fashion is universal, personal and touches everyone. Our aim is to use this year’s London Fashion Week catwalk to reach people and help raise crucial funds to help save the lives of women and children”
The show is taking place today and i’m sure Naomi will no doubt rally her showbiz friends around to put on a spectacular show. Designers involved include Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, can’t wait to see pictures. There will also be an auction involving eight cars customised specifically for the event from Lotus Cars called “The Naomi for Haiti” Evora sports car. One of the cars will be auctioned off during the show with the other seven being auctioned off on the Naomi for Haiti website here: http://www.naomiforhaiti.com/
