R.I.P. Malcolm Mclaren

Malcolm Mclaren famous for managing the sex pistols among other great bands was laid to rest today after passing away on April 8th in switzerland at the young age of 64. The Punk advocate had been battling against cancer since october 2009. His funeral proceedings carried on in true punk fashion. His coffin was spray painted with the words "Two fast to live too young to die" the name of his shop on kings road and the horse drawn hearse was followed by four cars and a green routemaster - Destination 'Nowhere'.

Vivenne Westwood had this to say:

"I am very, very sad that unbelievably Malcolm is dead and I just wanted to say
on this cruel, cruel day - get a life, do something with it."


Other Guests in attendance to pay their respects were Adam Ant, Bob Geldof and Sex Pistols' drummer Paul Cook. Mclarens Family urged the public to have a 'minute of mayhem' at noon in tribute, "Put on your favourite records and let it RIP!"

A send off which I expect Mclaren would have been proud of.

Thrush Metal

These days it's just not enough to have on job title on your CV. We've seen model turned designer, model turned actress - but what about Model turned Rock Chick? Well look no further than Alice Dellal. The 21 year old model has added another string to her bow and has teamed up with some of her fashionable mates and started an all-girl rock band. We knew she wasn't just a pretty face.

Dellal is infamous for her punky, rock look with black leather, partially shaved head and Dr. Marten boots, so it was only a matter of time before she hit the rock music scene.


The girls have settled on the name Thrush Metal, and have rumoured to be inspired by James Jagger's band Turbogeist. 

The other Thrush Metal members include  Isabella Ramsey, niece of the Earl of Dalhousie, and fellow models Emma Chitty and Laura Fraser.  

A source says: “Alice has rallied pals together, and they’re all keen to make the music work. They’ve been rehearsing and it shouldn’t be long before they get a demo together and start touring.”

However their recent gigs have only been by Facebook invitation only - so I guess they're not ready to hit the world stage just yet.

Spring, is that you?

Tentatively we have begun to put down our scarves and remove that extra layer from under our coats. While we still don't COMPLETELY trust the weather (the faithful umbrella still has a place in our hand bags), we are beginning to embrace the new season.
Spring! Yes the sun has been creeping out and teasing us with a few heat rays, it is time to stop perving over the spring trends, with our heaters on full blast and perhaps, maybe, ever so slightly, begin to wear them? YES.
Here are a few trends that you may want to dabble in:

Pastel colours Yes, yes and yes. This was seen at House of Holland, be sure to avoid looking like someone trying to relive their childhood unless you like that sort of thing. Personally I do.

Nails
They have been slightly neglected, hello gloves. But now treat them to something crazy, a simple manicure won't do.

Sheer clothing This cheeky trend might raise a few eyebrows if worn wrong, hell, even if you wear it right but most definitely WEAR IT.

Prints Tribal, floral, digital, animal, these prints will be everywhere and clashing fabulously *snap snap*

Trenchs As seen at burberry. Great as a light coat to throw on when an inevitable snow storm takes place during a heatwave. Got to love British weather.
